Our water filter has a 2 stage filtration process:

Stage 1: Whole House Sediment Filtration with 5 micron ratingOur water filter has a 5 micron rating. Microns represent the average size of the openings between pieces of the filter media. A micron rating for a water filter is a way of indicating the ability of the filter to remove contaminants by the size of the particles. A “micron” is an abbreviated term for “micrometer” or a millionth of a meter (1/1,000,000 meters”. This is about 0.00004 inches. As a general rule, the smaller micron rating for a filter the better it is. A 5 micron water filter can trap 99.9 percent of all particles 5 microns or larger. Our water filter filtration ability has progressed from 10 micron to 5 micron rating over the years. Our home water filter specifications are set at 5 microns rather than 1 micron because the 1 micron filter would easily clog up and has to be replaced frequently. As such, a 5-micron filter provides the best filtration ability for home use.

Stage 2: Remove the smell of water and add good tasteThe water next goes through a carbon filter to improve the taste and remove any odour of your water.
